Eze Criticizes Okocha's Leadership Claim in Rivers APC

In a recent development within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a prominent party member, has strongly criticized Tony Okocha, the chairman of the party’s Caretaker Committee in the state. Okocha made headlines by asserting that the former governor, Rotimi Amaechi, was no longer the leader of the APC in Rivers State.

Okocha, addressing journalists in Port Harcourt over the weekend, made controversial statements, including suggesting that Bola Tinubu's victory in the state during the 2023 general elections was influenced significantly by the support he received from the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike. Additionally, he accused Amaechi of anti-party activities, claiming that the former governor had abandoned the party.

Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a seasoned party member, expressed his disappointment with Okocha's statements. In a statement released to journalists on Thursday, Eze emphasized that Okocha, who was once appointed Chief of Staff by Amaechi during his tenure as the Governor of Rivers State, is now engaging in actions that denigrate his former boss.

Moreover, Eze questioned Okocha's party membership during the 2023 general elections, urging him to clarify if he was a member of the APC at that time. Eze emphasized that Okocha lacks a valid APC membership card and accused him of being a hireling engaged in the bidding of those supporting him for controversial activities in Rivers State.

Eze cautioned Okocha to desist from targeting Amaechi and warned that Amaechi, as a figure of high stature within the party, would not engage in the type of dirty politics Okocha seems to be embracing.

This development has added another layer of tension and internal strife within the APC in Rivers State, as key figures within the party express contrasting views on leadership dynamics and party allegiance. The situation raises questions about the internal cohesion and unity of the APC in the state, pointing to potential challenges in the party's political landscape.
