Nottingham Forest's Taiwo Awoniyi, a prominent player for the Nigerian national team, found the net as his team clinched a crucial 2-0 victory against 10-man West Ham United in today's Premier League match on February 17. Awoniyi opened the scoring just before half-time, and Callum Hudson-Odoi sealed the win in injury time of the second half.

Meanwhile, Alex Iwobi, another Nigerian midfielder, had an unfortunate return to action following the 2023 AFCON tournament. Iwobi started on the bench for Fulham in their game against Aston Villa at Craven Cottage. He came on as a substitute for Willian in the 46th minute, with Aston Villa leading 1-0. However, Ollie Watkins extended Villa's lead in the 56th minute. Despite Rodrigo Muniz pulling one back for Fulham, the home team couldn't complete a comeback, and the match ended 1-2 in favor of Aston Villa.

On the other hand, Arsenal delivered a dominant performance away from home at Turf Moor, defeating relegation-threatened Burnley 5-0. Martin Ødegaard opened the scoring in the 4th minute, followed by two goals from Bukayo Saka, a goal from Leandro Trossard, and a fifth goal from Kai Havertz.

In other simultaneous 4 p.m. matches, Newcastle United drew 2-2 with Bournemouth, while Tottenham Hotspur suffered a 1-2 defeat against Wolves in front of their home fans.

Prior to these games, Liverpool solidified their position at the top of the league table with a convincing 4-1 victory over Brentford in an away match.

The final Premier League fixture of the day will take place at the Etihad Stadium between Manchester City and Chelsea, with kickoff scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
