Plateau State Governor Claims President Tinubu Inherited Poor Economy from Former President Buhari

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, made a bold statement during the swearing-in ceremony of 22 Special Advisers and heads of government agencies in Plateau State on Monday. He asserted that President Bola Tinubu inherited a weak economy from his predecessor, former President Muhammadu Buhari. According to Governor Mutfwang, Tinubu faced the most underperforming economy since Nigeria's democratic era began in 1999.
During his speech, Governor Mutfwang highlighted the dire economic situation left by the previous administration. He revealed that the government had resorted to printing an excessive amount of money, amounting to around N30 trillion, which was subsequently distributed. This reckless economic management had severe consequences for the country.
Mutfwang also shed light on another alarming issue. He disclosed that the government had sold crude oil that was yet to be extracted, effectively compromising the country's future revenue. This pre-selling of oil reserves contributed to the devaluation of the national currency and has been a significant factor behind the ongoing food-related unrest in Nigeria.
Expressing concern over the current state of affairs, Governor Mutfwang urged politicians to prioritize governance over politics. He stressed the need for concerted efforts to address the economic challenges facing the country. Mutfwang further expressed gratitude that Plateau State had a relatively stable food supply compared to other states but warned that the situation could deteriorate if immediate action is not taken.
The governor reaffirmed his administration's commitment to tackling food security as a top priority. While some may have initially dismissed the importance of this issue, Mutfwang emphasized that it is a serious concern that requires urgent attention.
